DWI Checkpoints

We often participate in DWI Checkpoints. Our presence is an incentive and support to the Law Enforcement Officers who diligently work to insure the safety of our citizens.

Officers target higher traffic areas to reduce and deter incidents of drunken driving.
Upon suspicion, the stopped driver is required to exit the vehicle and take a roadside sobriety test that requires the demonstration of both mental and balance skills.

If the officer determines that the test has not been passed, the driver is then required to take an alcohol breath test (referred to as a Breathalyzer test in the United States).


In 2009 we participated in a Multiagency Checkpoint on Cerrillos Rd, West Zia Checkpoint, Espanola Multiagency Checkpoint and three Rio Rancho Checkpoints. We provide food, beverages and coffee for our law enforcement as a token of our appreciation for keeping our communities safe.
