Court Monitors take notes on the adjudication of DWI offenders.
They record the charges, the plea, the prior arrest record
and the sentence for each offender.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration,
court monitoring of DWI cases by volunteer citizen groups can be effective
in increasing the likelyhood of convictions.
Impact DWI is supporting the "Infusion Program" at Santa Fe Community
College where over 400 students in 28 classes were given some information
and assignments regarding Drugs, Alcohol and / or DWI. One of the assigments
was to do court monitoring of DWI cases.
